An absolute pleasure to hit the road again for the Master of Law & Business Ethics (Master Droit et Ethique des Affaires) learning trip.
We were hosted by our Alumni who have become recognized experts in the field of ethics and compliance!
They spoke passionately about their profession, their daily challenges and organized some brilliant workshops.
Kroll: Meeting with Yoel Elfassi for a deep dive in the due diligence sector associating Véronique Foulon, CAMS and Casper Wuite and then a live due diligence exercise.
Agilent Technologies: Meeting with Laetitia Dos Santos for a presentation of the healthcare industry and its many challenges.
Squire Patton Boggs: Meeting with Marion Seranne and, thanks to her, with Hannah Laming Jonathan Chibafa Lucy Webster Malcolm Dowden David Regan Wayne Barnes Ben Ticehurst for a mock board room crisis.
In addition to the meetings, the class of 2023 had the opportunity to sit for some interesting hearings and compare legal and judicial systems:
- At the UK Parliament for the MPs debate on the Commons privileges committee’s report into Boris Johnson and his statements to the house on Partygate.
- At The Old Bailey for 3 criminal cases
In addition to meeting with our Alumni network (Club Alumni MDEA see Post 1 https://lnkd.in/eb4ZRm8j) the 2023 learning trip was a great opportunity for our students to meet with our historical and new partners.
Buckles Law: Meeting with Laurence Howland to learn, from a new perspective, about the Financial regulation in the Uk and the principles that apply to solicitors. Combining integrity in finance and integrity of practitioners!
International Banking Federation (IBFed) & European Women on Boards (EWOB): Meeting with Hedwige Nuyens for an interactive session with the students around Money, Bank, Crypto and Diversity. Giving the students the opportunity to work in groups and to link those topics. The impact of Hedwige’s energy is Amazing!
Vault Platform: Meeting with Tori Reichman and Meg Porter. Discovering an impact-led technology startup and discussing innovative digital solutions in reporting misconduct and how to implement an ethical reporting tool to foster trust and respect employees while allowing the organization to effectively manage misconduct. Norton Rose Fulbright: Meeting with Stuart Neely for a high-level discussion on the UKBA and global anticorruption practice; the internal organization and the work of the Serious Fraud Office (UK) in investigating bribery and corruption; ESG and Force labour issues. Clifford Chance: Meeting with Anna Kirkpatrick and Emily Goddard for such a rich discussion on the UNGP framework 12 years on: the overall trajectory of legislative developments; the EU's Green Deal and the role of the UNGP in its legislative sustainability project across corporates and finance sectors; legislators' continuing focus on modern slavery. And additional discussion on the role of the UNGP in court-based remedy and the deployment of business and human rights in the climate agenda.
